Suggestions for High School Classes

• Sign up for the highest level course that you can handle
• Choose a foreign language carefully (one you will stick with and that is relevant)
• During 11th grade, go ahead and take the SAT (I suggest taking it 3 times over the course of 11th-12th grade)
• If you need to take math in college, it is a good idea to take the SAT II during 12th grade. If you have AP math credits or SAT II math scores, it may influence your placement in a college math class.

English:
4 units
-for 9-10th grade: standard, college prep, and honors are available
-for 11-12th grade: standard, college prep, honors, and Advanced Placement are available
Mathematics:
4 units
- Algebra 1 is required
-3 classes are recommended: Algebra II, Geometry, and higher level math course
-If you scored less than a 4 on the 8th grade EOG, Introductory Mathematics, Fundamentals of Math, or Foundations of Algebra are recommended
-If you scored Level 4 on the EOG, take Algebra 1
-If you took Algebra 1 in 8th grade, take Geometry
Science:
3 units: 1 Physical Science, 1 Biology, 1 Earth/Environmental Science
-Biology includes: ONLY Biology
-Physical Science includes: Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics
-Earth/Environmental Science: Earth Science, Environmental Science, Oceanography, Marine Science
History:
3 Units: World History, Civics and Economics, US History
Foreign Language :
French, Spanish, German, and Latin are commonly offered
