North Carolina College Information

College Foundation of NC- “Helping you plan, apply, and pay for college” CFNC is an all-in-one site that has important information regarding successful high school preparation, extra-curricular activities, scholarships, colleges, etc. North Carolina high school students should take advantage of this website because it is such a great resource for several higher education needs.

UNC System: 16 Schools- A website dedicated to providing information about the Public University School System of North Carolina. "The University of North Carolina is dedicated to the service of North Carolina and its people.[1] In order to efficiently and effectively fulfill its three-pronged mission of education, research and scholarship, and public service in the 21st century, the University should proactively anticipate and identify the needs facing our state over the next twenty years and, consistent with its mission, develop and implement responses to those needs."

North Carolina Community Colleges- NCCCS is a website with information regarding all of the community colleges in North Carolina. The website not only provides very accurate information about the classes it offers, deadlines, and other useful information, but guides prospective students through possible career-oriented programs and course offerings. Everyday, there is a new featured community college on the homepage.

General College Prep

College Board- Official website for SAT registration, information regarding colleges and universities. It manages many different standardized tests which generally cater to individuals in the third or fourth year of high school planning on continuing their educations at a post-secondary level. The SAT, the most well-known of these, is a test widely used for admission to universities in the United States.

Princeton Review-It offers test preparation for standardized achievement tests such as the SAT and advice regarding college admissions. The website has profiles of thousands of colleges and universities across the country. In addition, the site offers college and university admission statistics and advice.

College Toolkit- Test preparation website with exercises, and tips for successful college decision making. “We provide a number of College Search features to help you find information on college admissions, academics, tuition, financial aid, and more. The College Information includes statistics on SAT scores, ACT scores, and popular majors for more than 4,000 colleges across the U.S. Start your college search!”

Test Prep- A site with several exercises geared to help students improve their skills for standardized admission tests. “Number2.com's online test preparation courses are totally free! By creating an account you can access a customized course that includes user-friendly tutorials, practice sessions that dynamically adapt to each student's ability level, a vocabulary builder, and more.”

Financial Aid

FAFSA- The official website for registering for federal need based financial aid. The FAFSA form is extremely lengthy, but it may prove to be very beneficial in terms of helping students pay for college.

FinAid.org- A site that provides information about how to and where to approach information for scholarships, financial aid, and student loans. The site has information regarding financial aid for both students and parents.

Scholarships.com- A website that has information and applications for several scholarships. The site narrows down scholarships to match students’ academic, extracurricular, and talent interests. Last year the site produced over 2.7 million scholarships totaling over 19 billion dollars.

Fast Web.com- Financial Aid Search through the WEB. A free website that gathers several scholarships in a convenient and easy to use location. Last year, one out of three college-bound high school seniors used the site, and more than 35 million students have created FastWeb accounts since launching in 1995.
